We are Trend Machinery & Cutting Tools Ltd.

Throughout this policy document, ‘we’, ‘us’, ‘our’ and ‘Trend’ are used to reference Trend Machinery & Cutting Tools Ltd.

2. What personal information do we hold and why?

2.1. For the purposes of Marketing Communications:

If we hold your Name and Email address, we may use this information to contact you about our latest products, information and offers about our products and services. If you provide us with your Name and Email Address, we will seek your consent to allow us to hold your information and contact you.

2.2. For the purposes of Customer Services and Technical support:

We may hold your Name, Email address, Telephone number and Postal address. When you contact our Customer Service or Technical teams, we may hold some of the data that you provide us as outlined above, as well as details of your enquiry. This is to help provide you with the services you contacted us for. We do not use these details for any other purpose beyond our pre-contractual obligation to you.

2.3. Product Warranties:

We hold your Name, Email, Telephone number and Address We will use this information solely for the purpose of allowing us to maintain our commitment to our warranty on the product(s) you have purchased.

2.4. Order fulfilment and processing:

We use your personal data; Name, Telephone number, Email and Postal Address to provide the products you have ordered from us. Sometimes authorised Trend dealers have passed your data to us, for the purposes of order fulfilment. In this instance please also refer to their own privacy policy.

This is part of our contract with you.

3. Do we pass on your information?

Yes, we use third-party providers and processors to enhance or provide some of the services that we offer. However, we only pass on personal information that you have given us consent to do so, to deliver our products and services.

The following are the third parties that we may pass information on to: Authorised Dealers and Couriers, who are under contractual obligation to safeguard your personal information.

We do not sell on your information.

3.1. Email Marketing:

We utilise third-parties for our email marketing. If you have consented to our Email-marketing program (Trend ‘eNews’), we will store your Name and Email Address on to Dotmailer for the sole purpose of processing our Email campaigns that we send out. You can unsubscribe from these communications easily by following the unsubscribe link at the end of every marketing Email.

3.2. Website-Speciifc Privacy

 This privacy policy sets out how this website (hereafter "the Store") uses and protects any information that you give the Store while using this website. The Store is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Should we ask you to provide certain information by which you can be identified when using this website, then you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement. The Store may change this policy from time to time by updating this page. You should check this page from time to time to ensure that you are happy with any changes.

We may collect the following information:

  • - demographic information such as postcode, preferences and interests
  • - other information relevant to customer surveys and/or offers

3.2.2 What we do with the information we gather

We require this information to understand your needs and provide you with a better service, and in particular for the following reasons:

  • We may use the information to improve our products and services.
  • We may periodically send promotional emails about new products, special offers or other information which we think you may find interesting using the email address which you have provided.
  • From time to time, we may also use your information to contact you for market research purposes. We may contact you by email, phone, fax or mail. We may use the information to customise the website according to your interests.

3.2.3. Security

We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.

3.2.4. How we use cookies

A cookie is a small file which asks permission to be placed on your computer's hard drive. Once you agree, the file is added and the cookie helps analyse web traffic or lets you know when you visit a particular site. Cookies allow web applications to respond to you as an individual. The web application can tailor its operations to your needs, likes and dislikes by gathering and remembering information about your preferences.

We use traffic log cookies to identify which pages are being used. This helps us analyse data about web page traffic and improve our website in order to tailor it to customer needs. We only use this information for statistical analysis purposes and then the data is removed from the system.

Overall, cookies help us provide you with a better website, by enabling us to monitor which pages you find useful and which you do not. A cookie in no way gives us access to your computer or any information about you, other than the data you choose to share with us. You can choose to accept or decline cookies. Our website may contain links to other websites of interest. However, once you have used these links to leave our site, you should note that we do not have any control over that other website. Therefore, we cannot be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information which you provide whilst visiting such sites and such sites are not governed by this privacy statement. You should exercise caution and look at the privacy statement applicable to the website in question

3.2.6 Controlling your personal information

You may choose to restrict the collection or use of your personal information in the following ways:

  • whenever you are asked to fill in a form on the website, look for the box that you can click to indicate that you do not want the information to be used by anybody for direct marketing purposes
  • if you have previously agreed to us using your personal information for direct marketing purposes, you may change your mind at any time by letting us know using our Contact Us information

We will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to third parties unless we have your permission or are required by law to do so. We may use your personal information to send you promotional information about third parties which we think you may find interesting if you tell us that you wish this to happen.

You may request details of personal information which we hold about you under the Data Protection Act 1998. A small fee will be payable. If you would like a copy of the information held on you please email us this request using our Contact Us information.

If you believe that any information we are holding on you is incorrect or incomplete, please write to or email us as soon as possible, at the above address. We will promptly correct any information found to be incorrect.

3.2.7 Cookies 

We utilise Google Analytics to monitor website usage trends and performance. This helps us to optimise our website to provide a better user experience. We do not use this data to personalise content specific to your behaviour patterns. The data processed is not personally identifiable and IP addresses have been rendered anonymous to protect your personal data even further.

3.3. Service reviews:

We utilise third-party review platforms and providers to help collect and collate independent reviews on our customer experience, as well as service and technical teams. The data processed includes Name, Email Address and a reference number, which is typically an order reference or enquiry reference. The provider will send out an automated email to request a review of our service. The data is not processed for any other purpose beyond the collection of a review. Placing multiple orders or contacting out support teams, can result in multiple requests for a review. You can unsubscribe from this service at any time using the unsubscribe link, found at the end of every marketing Email.

 

4. How long will we keep the information?

CCTV Recording:

We utilise CCTV for the security of our staff and offices. When visiting our offices, it is likely that our CCTV cameras will capture you on the premises. Unless an incident is recorded, CCTV recordings are kept for two weeks. If an incident is recorded, then the recordings will be kept for the duration of the investigation or that required by the authorities plus two weeks after. You have the right to request a copy of all recordings where you are present.

4.1 Data retention for Marketing purposes

We will keep your information (outline for this purpose until you withdraw your consent to us processing it. If you no longer wish to be contacted for marketing purposes (to see the data we hold see point 2.1). This can be done by contacting us using the Email stated at the end of this policy or simply by clicking on the unsubscribe link that is present at the end of all our marketing emails.

4.2 Data Retention for the purposes of Customer Service and Technical Support

We will keep your information (outlined in 2.2) for solely this purpose for three years from the date of last contact. After which your personal data will be automatically removed. Anonymous details of your enquiry may be kept beyond this date, depending on the nature of the enquiry. This does not affect your right to erasure (5.4).

4.3 Data retention for the purposes of Product Warranty

We will keep your information (outlined in 2.3) to uphold our commitment to our product warranty for 7 years, or until your warranty expires, which ever is longer. Depending on the type of product purchased, we may keep your data for a period of 7 years after date of purchase, for safety and product recall communications. We will not use this information for any other purpose.

After this period, it does not affect your right to erasure (5.4)

4.4 Data retention for the purposes of Order Fulfilment and Processing

We will keep your information (outlined in 2.5) to uphold our commitment to deliver the products you have ordered from us, or an authorised Trend Stockist. We will keep this data for 7 years. Depending on the type of product purchased, we may keep your data for a period of 7 years after date of purchase, for safety and product recall communications. We will not use this information for any other purpose. Please also refer to point 4.3 if you have, or intend to register your product for a warranty.

 

5. Your Rights over the information we hold

5.1. Right to withdraw consent

You have the right to withdraw consent at any time, once we have received notification that you have withdrawn your consent, we will stop processing your information for the purpose you originally agreed to and delete the information about you. You can also easily unsubscribe from our marketing emails ‘eNews’ by pressing the unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email and following the short confirmation process.

5.2. Right of access to your personal information (commonly known as a "data subject access request").

This enables you to receive a copy of the personal information we hold about you and to check that we are lawfully processing it.

5.3. Right of rectification

You have the right to request that any of the personal information that we hold about you is updated with the correct details.

5.4. Right of erasure

You have the right to ask us to delete or remove personal information where there is no good reason for us continuing to process it. To do this for this purpose you just need to withdraw your consent to us processing the information

5.5. Right to restrict processing

You have the right to restrict our processing of your personal information. This enables you to ask us to suspend the processing of personal information about you, for example if you want us to establish its accuracy or the reason for processing it.

 

6.How do you exercise these rights?

7.No fee usually required

You will not have to pay a fee to access your personal information (or to exercise any of the other rights). However, we may charge a reasonable fee if your request for access is clearly unfounded or excessive. Alternatively, we may refuse to comply with the request in such circumstances.

 

8. Right to complain to the ICO

You have the right complaint at any time to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), if you feel we are not dealing with any data protections issues at: https://www.ico.org.uk. However, we would welcome the opportunity to deal with any issues or complaints you have regarding our service.
